In recent news, a Jordanian air pilot was burned alive by
the Islamic terrorist group of Iraq and Syria, ISIS. As the news article states,
the pilot was given drugs in order to numb the sensation of being burnt alive. While the terrorist group was committing this inhumane action, they filmed it live
and sent it to Jordon. As a result, Jordanian officers executed two of the ISIS
prisoners. The fact Jordanian officers did this in return, caused tensions to grow between the two groups.
The idea of a person being recorded as they burn into ashes
is almost like the use of propaganda; one side using media to show that they are more superior than the
other. This idea relates to the event that took place in 1970, the October
Crisis. This incident was triggered by the idea of separatism in Quebec. The French, at that time, were often ignored or treated badly. In order to
promote the idea of Quebec independence, the separatist group Front de Libération
du Québec, FLQ, beheaded the government officials, which was also recorded.
These two events show how easily people are willing to sacrifice humans in
order to gain control over a large population.
Overall, the two events
were done by groups trying to advocate what they think is correct by using
violent means, for instance, live beheading's. This questions an individual’s
values, because if a human does not have the audacity to care about another
human being and is willing to kill them, then, are humans really any different
than a pack of wolves?
